5 failed nap attempts
I just wanted to nap before working the closing shift tonight. No such luck. 3 phone calls, one noisy cat, and a knock at the door pretty much ruined all chances of that. It wasn't even an actual knock at the door. My neighbor was putting up a picture frame, and the hammering sounded like someone tapping at my screen. So, no dice for any rest. To be fair, I work at a coffee shop. I don't like relying on caffeine to keep me going, but I'll use it if I really have to.
I really miss camping. My trip was so much fun. It was nice not having to worry about everyday stuff, like bills, cleaning, and work. I also really enjoyed having all my meals cooked over a camp fire. The last night, we had a bunch of apples that no one had eaten, so we diced them up and threw them in a dutch oven with cinnamon, sugar, and even a few marshmallows! Baked apples with a hint of smokiness? My favorite!
It's weird working at my store now that my manager has left. I miss Laura. She was the best manager I've ever had at any job! Liz is our temporary manager. I really like her too, though she's only sticking around for another week or so before Marianne takes over for good. I'm sure Marianne is nice. Laura wouldn't leave us with someone who is snippy. Still, it'd be nice to still have Laura around, what with half of my coworkers moving out of state or leaving for new jobs. Ah well. A new beginning, I guess.
