Enjoying a day off.

I'm enjoying my laziness as much as possible the next few days. From Thursday onward it's nothing but long early morning shifts. 6am-2pm, 4:30am-noon, and so on. This weekend is the Clay, Glass, and Metal Art Show, and it is literally down the street from us. That means the store will be packed, the blenders will be going non-stop, and I'll want to hide in the corner somewhere. There is nothing more vicious to someone in the coffee business than hot, angry, thirsty people who've yet to have their morning's dose of caffeine! I suppose my one consolation of having to work these less-than-stellar shifts is that tips are bound to be awesome. It's almost an unwritten rule. The more you suffer at work, the bigger the tips. Perhaps it's a cosmic balance sort of thing?

I just keep a smile on my face and hope to God I don't get any butt-head customers. It's inevitable to have that experience, but I just hope not this weekend. I just don't understand that mentality. "Boy! My boss treats me like crap! My significant other is being a jerk, and I just got a parking ticket. I guess the only way to make myself feel better is to freak out over some minute little detail in my drink order and make the barista feel like a worthless pile of flesh because they didn't make my cappuccino taste like the ones I get out of vending machines at my lousy job". Thank God I've gotten better at laughing things off, else I'd probably be incarcerated for leaping over the counter and knocking the stuffing out of a surly customer.

This is Berry-Blossom, my elfkin. She has hair now, but I've yet to upload those photos.
