Log dump: Ironhide meets his new student.

Oct 17, 2008 22:11

Skyfire: Dealing with sparklings was something Skyfire had never been trained for. He never had the desire for it, really. But lately...lately he had been learning all too quickly.
Skyfire: Sitting outside with a giant battle-station sized sparkling and trying to comfort it was not something he was very good at, but he was still trying. But considering the recent recovery of the one mech around the base that he knew was skilled in that particular area... Skyfire sighed and gently pat one of the giant sparkling's equally giant tentacles. Perhaps it was time to give Ironhide a comm.

GPG: The giant griffin's tentacle curled slightly at Skyfire's touch. There were so many strange things here...she was very happy to be here where she could meet new friends, but at the same time, she had never come across so many scary and unhappy-making new things before. It didn't help that she had to sleep away from her friends-- not that she'd ever complain, because Skyfire visited her. But it was a bit lonely, especially after having lived with the desert animals under her armor for so long.

Ironhide: Ever since he'd gotten back from that Pit-spawned island, Ironhide had been spending most of his time in his quarters, relieved to be back and /fully functional/ again.
Ironhide: He'd heard about this new sparkling, and he didn't have a /clue/ how he was supposed to train someone of her size; he'd never trained anyone bigger than about Megatron's height before.
Ironhide: This should be...well, interesting would probably be an understatement.

Skyfire: Skyfire leans back against the side of the sparkling's hull with other sigh from his intakes. He's done what he can but he's fairly certain the sparkling is still unhappy.
Skyfire: With another pat, this time on her side, he pens up a comm line to the weapons master. ::Ironhide?::

GPG: She's busy thinking to herself...specifically, trying to figure out how many of those cute happy things she'll need to fill up her...cargo bay.
GPG: That train of thoughts comes to an end when she realizes she's not exactly sure how big they are. She knows how big they are in relation to humans, but she's not really sure how big humans are in relation to herself...

Ironhide: Ironhide sighed; he was pretty sure that this had something to do with the new kid. ::Yeah, Skyfire?::

Skyfire: Ironhide would be correct, then. ::I comming to ask if you would like to go ahead and meet the new sparkling, since I'm outside with her right now anyway. I'd be able to introduce you properly?::
Skyfire: Skyfire says, turning in his seat against the giant griffon's side to give her a weak smile as he mentions her.

GPG: She almost doesn't notice Skyfire at first, as deep as she is in her thoughts.
GPG: Then she tilts her head at him, returning the smile (however a creature with a beak smiles), her tentacle-mane fluffing slightly.

Ironhide: ::Uh, sure.:: Ironhide doesn't really have anything better to do right now, and seeing her will probably help him figure out just how he's going to best train her.
Ironhide: He's not even sure how well she'll take to the idea, even if it's simple self-defense, with what Skyfire had already told him about the sparkling.

Skyfire: ::Oh, good.:: Skyfire says, relieved, before ginning properly up at the sparkling with a light tap on her armor. "Hey. How would you like to make a another new friend?"

GPG: She beams at that. "Yes! I like friends!" Her tail swishes from side to side, stirring up dust. "I want to meet lots of friends!"

Ironhide: ::You want me to meet you outside, or...?:: He asks knowing there's no way she can fit /inside/ the base.

Skyfire: ::Of course. I'm outside right now,:: Skyfire says, followed by the location coordinates. Out loud, he replies to the sparkling. "I'm glad. There is a friend of mine coming over here, named Ironhide, and he wants to meet you too. He is the one around here who trains other young bots like you, so he should be very helpful for you to know.::

GPG: "Ironhide?" She headtilts again, thoughtfully. "Train...young bots? Like what? What's training?"

Ironhide: ::I'll be there in a few klicks.:: Ironhide shakes his head and leaves the room, apprehensive about this meeting.

Skyfire: "Yes. And training is...teaching you things you should know. Helping you learn various things so you can do more." Skyfire says tentatively, unsure of how to explain, replying to Ironhide at the same time. ::Alright. We'll be here.::

GPG: "Oooh." That answer satisfies her for now, and she shifts to tuck her legs beneath her while she waits for her new friend to arrive.

Ironhide: And true to his word, after a few klicks, Ironhide shows up, quirking an optic ridge as he looks up at the massive sparkling.

GPG: She swivels her head to look down at the newcomer--he was smaller than Skyfire, but it seemed that lots of people here were smaller than Skyfire. "Hi!" Twitch-twitch-twitch goes her giant tail. "Can we be friends?"

Skyfire: Skyfire looks over at Ironhide and can't help but chuckle at the look on the older mech's face. "Oh. Hello Ironhide."

Ironhide: "Uh...sure," Ironhide suddenly feels like he's going to regret saying that, and he looks at Skyfire. "Hey. You weren't kidding."
Ironhide: Turning his attention back to the sparkling, he asks, "You picked out a name yet?"

GPG: She was too busy being happy that she had found another friend to realize right away that she was being addressed. But then she focused on Ironhide once more.
GPG: "Name?" She thought for a moment. Distant memories flitted across her consciousness, but they meant nothing to her.
GPG: "...I'm a...I'm a femme! A...griffin! ..." She's a little scared to realize that she doesn't have a name that she can remember!

Skyfire: "Of course I wasn't kidding," Skyfire replies, amused. "And she doesn't seem to have a name just yet." He looked up towards the sparklings face, still not moving from his relaxed seat at her side.
Skyfire: "You have any idea what kind of name you'd like?"

GPG: "...no." She looks almost ashamed by this. Maybe she didn't have a name because she was bad, because she didn't find who she was supposed to be looking for in the desert.

Skyfire: Skyfire just smiles and pats her armor again. "It's fine. You can take your time and think of one that you like."

Ironhide: Ironhide just nods and takes a few steps closer, "Yeah, take your time. Names're important." Big sparkling is big, way bigger than Skyfire who is two to three times larger than him anyways.

GPG: "Okay..." She rests her head on the ground and vents a soft sigh.

Skyfire: Skyfire can't help but grin fondly at the femme. Big sparkling may be BIG, but she seems to grow on you after a while. ::Overwhelmed yet?:: Skyfire asks Ironhide, a hint of teasing smugness creeping into his tone.

Ironhide: ::...m'still trying to figure out what to /call/ her until she picks a name.:: Ironhide admits, moving a little closer. She is starting to grow on him a bit too, and he crosses his arms over his chest, adopting a slightly more serious expression, "Did Skyfire tell you what I do?"

GPG: A giant yellow optic turns back to look at Ironhide. "He said you...train little bots like me." She still wasn't exactly sure what this 'training' entailed, or if she even wanted to do it. What if it was scary?

Skyfire: ::I just try to avoid it myself. Sparkling seems to work well enough. Buzzsaw, though he's a little cretin, come up with the nickname of 'Griff' based on her beastial mode.
Skyfire: He thought she was a he and a refused to think of her as a sparkling, but still.:: Skyfire laughs over the comm. ::...And no, before you ask, I didn't call her 'little'.::

Ironhide: Ironhide barely holds in a growl at the mention of the cassette, though he doesn't manage to keep an irate look from crossing over his face plates. ::...ha. Little.::

Skyfire: Skyfire sighs and smiles wryly. Good luck explaining all this, Ironhide.

Ironhide: Oh slag. No help from the shuttle?

Skyfire: Nope. Skyfire has tried his hand at this before and failed. It's Ironhide's turn to give it a shot. ::Come on then, Ironhide. I'm sure you've had to explain something like this to a clueless sparkling before. Right?::

Ironhide: ::...yeah. It isn't easy, though.:: Ironhide grumbles over the comm, then sighs, "To put it bluntly, we have enemies. Bad people that don't like us.
Ironhide: You need to know how to keep yourself from getting hurt by them." He figures that's a simple enough explanation.

GPG: She shivers slightly. "They put mines in the ground," she says softly, seeming to withdraw into herself.

Skyfire: Skyfire's intakes hiss quietly, and he turns around to lean against the massive sparkling, patting her on the side. "Yes... Enemies do bad, painful things. But Ironhide can help you learn to protect yourself and others..."
Skyfire: Yeah, so much for not trying to explain things again.

GPG: "But...lots of friends are here. Friends keep friends safe."

Ironhide: "That's part of what I'm going to teach you. You want to keep your friends safe, right?" Ironhide asks, looking up at her, then glancing at Skyfire.

GPG: Again she shivers. "Friends always keep /me/ safe."

Skyfire: "Friends help keep /each other/ safe," Skyfire says, tilting back to look up at her.

Ironhide: Ironhide nods, hoping she's understanding what they're saying.

GPG: "But...but..." She curls her tail around her legs. "I don't like being angry and fighting. It's scary."

Skyfire: Skyfire sighs. He knew this would be hard for her. "I know. I don't like to fight either. But sometimes.... Sometimes you just have to, to keep other people safe. I'd fight to keep you safe, and my other friends as well."

Ironhide: Again Ironhide nods, "That's what most everyone here will do as well. We take care of each other." Well, not everyone, but mentioning them probably isn't a good idea at the moment.

GPG: "But we can just stay here and be happy and we don't have to fight!"

Ironhide: "We shouldn't have to be stuck in one place all the time, and sometimes they come here," Ironhide points out, frowning slightly.

GPG: "Oh..." How scary! She's beginning to get the faintest regret for leaving the desert.

Skyfire: "Its alright though. We're your friends, right? We'll help keep you safe. That's what we do." Skyfire give her a hopeful, cheerful smile. See? It's alright!

GPG: "Yeah...okay." She uncurls slightly, the tentacles of her mane waving about lazily again.

Ironhide: She's taking this better than Ironhide thought she would, though the real test will be the first session they have. ::...that it, or...do I need to stick around?::

Skyfire: ::You could always stick around, explain some of the training things to her. She's still a bit worried I think...:: Skyfire says. ::After all, you need to make friends, right?:: He adds with a amused grin.

Ironhide: ::.../I/ need to make friends?:: Ironhide quirks an optic ridge at Skyfire, ::The frag does that mean?::

Skyfire: ::You need to make friends with /her/, yes.:: Skyfire corrects, giving Ironhide a bit of a smirk in return.

GPG: She's been oblivious to their little exachange, as she's busy having a staring contest with a snake that's hiding behind one of the nearby rocks. She's going to win this one!

Ironhide: Ironhide glares at Skyfire slightly, then looks back at her, trying to figure out /still/ what he can even teach her, and unsure of what to say.

GPG: Oh, she's so going to win this. The tip of her tail twitches slightly in excitement.

Skyfire: Skyfire just chuckles quietly, shaking his head, amused. After a moment, he turns around to watch the GPG, curious about why she's been so quiet.

Ironhide: The sparkling's staring at seemingly nothing makes him quirk an optic ridge, ::...what's she doing?::

Skyfire: Skyfire stares up at the sparkling, confused himself. ::I'm...not sure, actually.::

GPG: She's gonna win...she's gonna win...

Ironhide: "....Gryphon? You alright?" That sounds like a reasonable thing to call her, as she has no name yet.

GPG: "I think maybe I will win!" she chirps, not taking her eyes off the snake, who's still staring back at her.

Skyfire: Skyfire takes a step closer, trying to see what the sparkling is going on about. "...Win what?"

GPG: She edges a little closer to the snake, but the vibrations her movement causes startles the small creature, and it slinks away. "Oh. It went away. I think maybe it didn't want to play any more."

Ironhide: The snake moving catches Ironhide's attention and he shakes his head slightly, looking up at her, "So...uh...I'm going to need a few days to figure out what I /can/ teach you."
Ironhide: Awkward situation is awkward.

GPG: She looks at Ironhide. "I think maybe I don't want to learn...training." Her mane-tentacles curl tightly.

Skyfire: Oh. A snake. Okay. Skyfire shake his head before turning back to the conversation. "Oh?" Hmm. Well this might be a problem.

Ironhide: "...it's something you need to learn. And it's not as bad as it sounds," Ironhide looks at Skyfire for help.

GPG: "But...I don't wanna."

Skyfire: Skyfire nods encouragingly, curious. "What is it that you don't want to learn? You'd be learning a lot of other things besides defense training."

GPG: "But I think maybe it will make me not-happy." She rests her chin on her forepaws and looks from Skyfire to Ironhide.

Ironhide: Ironhide frowns slightly, "...we'll figure out something to make sure you don't feel...not-happy. And you only need to use what I teach you rarely." Hopefully, at least.

GPG: "...Okay." She doesn't look entirely convinced of this.

Skyfire: Skyfire reaches over to pat at said forepaw, nodding at Ironhide's words. "It's alright. It's not as scary as you might be thinking it is, I'm sure. Besides, you won't be the only one learning all of this - you'll get to make new friends at the same time."

GPG: She perks up slightly. "I like friends."

Ironhide: Oh, thank you Skyfire! "Yeah, I have a few others that you'll get to train with. You should get along really well with at least one of 'em."

GPG: "Okay. Are they nice?"

Skyfire: He does try. "I think so," he glances to Ironhide for confirmation. "They are sparklings like you so I can imagine they would be."

Ironhide: "They're nice. Same age as you," Ironhide nods, "and maybe Skyfire can be there for the first lesson."

GPG: She beams at Skyfire. "Yes! I would like that! And maybe we will have fun I think!"

Skyfire: "I wouldn't mind being there," Skyfire says, smiling encouragingly.

Ironhide: Ah, good; that will probably make things /much/ easier. Ironhide smiles a bit, "Good, then. As soon as figure out what I can do, we'll get started."

GPG: She clasps her forepaws, optics narrowing happily. Her tentacles start waving about again. "And we will learn lots of stuff!"

Skyfire: "I'm sure you will!" Skyfire smiles.

Ironhide: His smile widens, and he takes a small step backwards, "I'll comm you or leave a message soon."

GPG: She tilts her head. "Comm...? Oh. Okay." She suddenly does a dog-like crawl towards Ironhide. "I think maybe I will give you a hug now so we can be friends!"

Skyfire: Skyfire just grins. It is possible he has been around Starscream for too long.

Ironhide: Ironhide stiffens slightly, unsure of what to do.

GPG: A giant purple paws wraps around Ironhide and drags him close to the giant robotic griffin. Several large tentacles also wrap around Ironhide in a rather strange and probably uncomfortable hug.

Skyfire: Skyfire's wings twitch as he holds back the urge to laugh out loud - though that doesn't stop him from laughing at the look on Ironhide's face over their comm.

Ironhide: Ironhide freezes completely, optics going wide, and he growls at Skyfire over the comm, ::Shut up.::

GPG: She's completely oblivious to Ironhide's discomfort. Hugs are nice!

Skyfire: Skyfire continues to laugh over the comm, outwardly displaying no more then his rather unholy smile. ::I'm sorry, but this is just...:: He continues to laugh.

Ironhide: ::Shut. Up.:: Ironhide scowls, hesitantly reaching out with one hand to pat whatever part of her he can reach, that being a tentacle.

GPG: She makes a high-pitched sound that's something between a squee and a purr. "We can be friends forever now!"

Ironhide: "...yeah," he pats her again, "uh...you can put me down now."

GPG: "Oh...okay." The tentacles pulls back, and she releases Ironhide. "I will give you another hug some time!"

Skyfire: Skyfire /grins/. Yes, far too much Starscream for him.

Ironhide: Ironhide knows there's no way he's going to be able to tell her no without hurting her feelings, so he gives her a small smile, "...okay."
Ironhide: ::Skyfire. You stay quiet about this.::

Skyfire: ::Yes, yes,:: Skyfire agrees, still laughing.

GPG: She's simply sitting there, beaming down at them both. Her mane fluffs up as her tail slowly waves from side to side. What a happy day!

Ironhide: "...I gotta get going now," Ironhide takes a few steps back, giving the sparkling another smile, and Skyfire a /look/.

Skyfire: Skyfire grins in reply, more than a hint of a smirk in his optics. Today was a good day.
