i'm not schooled enough to know those other things, but a dell is a good choice.
this is all aside from the fact that it crashed and i lost tons of shit, but i'm pretty sure that was from internet viruses (my anti-virus had waaaaaaaaaaay expired)
i would totally buy another.
make sure you get an extended warranty, though. like the accidental protection cause someone once stepped on mine. shit happens and it's worth it if you have that!

but 1300 smackers sounds like a lot
its a good pc, it has all the top of the line stuff,
dont be concerned with the video card, thats only for gamers.
32 meg vid card is fine, you'll have no problems with that.
the processor speed is a tad on the low end. 512megs of ram is perfect. the wifi nic is G- thats important on laptops.
accept nothing less than a 30 gig hard disk.
beyond that, you might wanna make sure it has a serial ps2 port for a mouse if you want to plug a mouse into it.
and at least 2 usb ports, they have many uses.
$1300 sounds high for a laptop of this caliber.
im sure if you shopped around you could find a similar model for less, try www.slickdeals.net for a dell coupon or maybe scour the dell refurbished site for a while.
other then that, 2 thumbs up from this kh
