Agostino Campana is the head of the Campana family operating out of Palermo, Sicily. He is a devout Catholic and is known for his even temper and judgement, managing to avoid battles with other families. He is allied to the Abandonato family, having been friends with Nicostrato Abandonato since childhood and they have a strong alliance. He has been married to Gia since he turned 20 and together they have five children: Allegra, Ferruccio, Dante, Lothario, Santino and Fiorenzo. Agostino has a policy of never killing children and will not tolerate violence to them or to women. He's proud of his children and likes to keep his immediate family close to him with his younger brother Ottaviano being his underboss with eldest son Ferruccio being groomed to be the next boss.
"As long as my children are healthy and happy, I only interfere in their lives when necessary."
Gia is the wife of Agostino and an ex-model who was shunned by her family for marrying into the mafia. Like her husband she is extremely devout and takes her role as mother of the family very seriously and treats the younger soldiers like her own children. She is mother to Allegra, Ferruccio, Dante, Lothario, Santino and Fiorenzo and was the one who taught Allegra how to fire a gun. Gia is an extremely patient woman and often the voice of reason if she has to get involved in any family matters although she's content to sit back and let the men talk it out. She is fiercely protective of her children and if someone hurts them she'll be the one to make sure they pay.
"I am not some spoiled little princess; I know how to handle myself and I managed to keep five brothers in line so don't your dare patronise me."
Allegra is the eldest of the Campana children with five younger brothers: Ferruccio, Dante, Lothario, Santino and Fiorenzo. Due to being a woman she is unable to become the next boss of her family and chooses to marry into the Abandonato family through Massimo, one of her childhood friends. Her mother Gia taught her early that she should stand on her own two feet and Allegra is an active part of her family, able to pull her own weight. She grew up in Palermo, Sicily and is very much the apple of her father's eye and the two share a very close bond. She is very close to her brothers and as the only girl in the family they can be very protective of her despite her protests. Allegra is 17 when she marries Massimo and soon becomes an active member in the Abandonato family, wanting to prove that she can take care of herself and of business and resents her mother-in-law attempting to push her to the fringes of the family. She becomes very close to Massimo's younger sister Mariella.
"What happened to the old days, when people knew how to go about things with a measure of class?"
Ferruccio is the eldest son of the Campana family and next in line to be the boss whenever his father steps down or in the event of his death. He has a good head for business and is well respected by the family for his ability to keep calm under pressure and for his quick thinking. Although a hit with the ladies, he doesn't date casually unlike younger brother Lothario and instead says he's waiting for the right girl. Ferruccio is the most devout of his brothers and holds many old mafia traditions very close to his heart leading many to joke that he's an old man already.
"I'm the quiet one, the public face with the respectable job and a good woman; the family needs men like me to keep everything running smoothly."
Dante Campana is the second son and third child of Agostino and Gia and often concerns himself with the legitimate business of the family. He has a degree in accounting and is working towards gaining another in business with a view to becoming his brother's contabile and as such he is very close to Ermete Adessi, the contabile to his father. Dante has spent several years in New York to study and was crucial in establishing connections not just for the Campana family but also the Abandonatos. He is in a relationship with Vanessa Hathaway, a lawyer with mafia connections who works in New York. Dante is mostly based in New York for the moment but he and Vanessa have plans to move to Sicily at some stage.
"We're mafia. I have fine clothes, a flash car, I can take them to the nicest place in town - so why shouldn't I take advantage of that?"
Lothario is the third son of the Campana family and lives up to his name being a womaniser and he's had a gun aimed at him more than once by an enraged father, brother, boyfriend, husband or family member much to the annoyance of his parents and elder brother Ferruccio. He is a lapsed Catholic and often has to be dragged to mass by the family or he shows up late. Lothario has very loose lips between the sheets and is generally not trusted with important family matters in case they land the family in trouble. Gia tries to encourage Lothario to travel in the hopes that he'll mature or find a nice girl who he'll settle down with, agreeing with her husband that Lothario is better kept to the fringes of mafia life.
"Insult my cooking or my skills and I'll show you just how good I am with these knives."
Santino Campana is the fourth son of the Campana family and personality wise is the middle ground between older brothers Dante and Lothario in that he works hard and plays hard. Santino runs a bar alongside Renato Serpico, one of the family capos but hopes to open a restaurant at some stage. He is often teased by his older brothers for his interest in cooking and is viewed as a mama's boy but the skills he learned in the kitchen from Gia transferred to mafia life; he is an expert at wielding knives and blades. Santino runs with Renato's crew and he has a good rapport with them and they frequent his bar along with family associates.
"I don't know what I want to do in the future. When you have five older siblings to live up to, there's a lot of pressure."
Fiorenzo Campana is the baby of the family and isn't overly involved in family matters as he's still finishing his last year at school. Fiorenzo has plans to study languages at university and is moving to New York to stay with his brother Dante.
