Sick of being sick

I got some sort of cold/flu/manflu just before Christmas. Salmonella or something in Thailand. Then a cold after we got back from Thailand. Yesterday was a hangover, which was my own fault, but still not fun. And today I have a cold again. This is getting really, really, supremely old.

While normally it’s not a big deal for me to take some time off from work, or even to not take sick leave and just kind of half-ass a day or two, this isn’t one of those times. I know most of the time when people think they can’t take time off work it’s totally imagined, because someone else can do whatever they’re doing for them, or it can be put off a day or two. But right now I’m literally the only person who can do it, and we’ve got tight deadlines that aren’t missable this time.

And I can’t afford to miss choir either, I know I’m going to be racking up enough absences I can’t afford any more. And I feel like kind of an ass because I’m missing the tech dress and I’m a soloist. Not a major soloist, but I still feel like a jerk. There’s a sectional today that I’m probably going to miss, just because I don’t need people freaking out about my contagions, but fortunately that one doesn’t count towards our absences. A little extra time to heal today might help me feel better so I don’t have to miss Tuesday.

Ok, body. No more disease. I don’t have time to be sick, but I could try to pencil it in on my calendar if you just hold off for another week.
