Well, things aren’t really calming down. This weekend is PAX, which I’m excited for. Lately I haven’t been too excited about pencil & paper RPGs. I think I’ve just exceeded my gaming-and-talking-about-gaming quota for the season. Two cons, plus weekly gaming, and visitors who game…I love it, I love it all, but I don’t have quite the same lust for discussing the hobby as a lot of other people around me do. I think PAX won’t involve a lot of tabletop for me, try to focus more on the video game side. I know I won’t be able to avoid chatting about it, and I’m sure it’ll be good, but I’ll leave the demo space to those who need the demos more than I. And I think not forcing myself to game during the day will make me more amenable to those chats, and the other inevitable gaming.
It will be good for choir to start again. I was dreading it for a bit, our first performance is in a month and, in addition to having forgotten most of the music we learned before the summer, they added a couple more songs that I don’t know at all. So I was a little intimidated to go back. But I think it will be nice to have a different flavor of madness.
And fall is coming to town. The best time of year. Walks are more frequent because I don’t have to worry about it being too hot, or sunburns, or overheating the old dog. And food gets better, as it’s no longer too hot to consider turning on the stove or the oven. And I will soon be able to start wearing coats again. I like coats, I look good in coats. And I think the combination of having other stuff to do/talk about (choir) and the time of year will make me more excited to settle down into a long-term game. Also, I just bought this year’s Martha Stewart Halloween, which is always exciting. I don’t know why it’s always exciting, as she seems to recycle a lot of the same stuff every year (this one’s supposedly a “collector’s edition” which seems to mean it has almost zero new content), but there’s always juuuuust enough new stuff that I know I’ll buy it again next year. Well, it might not be new, but stuff published before I started buying them counts as new to me. I don’t know what I’m going to be this year, or what the party’s theme is going to be (although it might just be “drink the beer” considering how much choir stuff will be going on). Maybe video games, I thought Carmen San Diego would be a very easy costume if I run out of time, and you won’t hear me objecting to an excuse to buy a red coat. We’ll see, I’ve got time.
