Affliction's Sons by
stella_andrea (Winona/Sarek, Kirk/Spock, NC-17, Rating, 70,000)
Summary: There has been a Pon Farr outbreak on New Vulcan. Sarek goes to investigate but is trapped on an uninhabited planet with Winona Kirk just as he begins Pon Farr himself. Spock and Jim save their parents, only to discover that they are now stepbrothers. Dealing with the outbreak, their parents' new relationship, and their own friends-with-benefits relationship will challenge both of them.
Notes: It’s a rare pair, but the author makes it work so, so well. The way she writes their tentative interactions before and during Pon Farr and the scene where Kirk & Spock realize that both of their parents have remarried, and to each other, are just perfect.
Cling to All You Have Left by
sunriseinspace ((always-a)girl!McCoy/Kirk, PG, 3130)
Summary: It's been two years since she met him on that shuttle, two years since her half-crazed, drunken rant against space and her ex, and she could swear she's seen every possible incarnation of James Kirk. This, however, is a new one.
Notes: Guh, this fic’s premise and McCoy’s comment at the end-both will break your heart because it’s just so real
Both Looking On The Same Side Of The Moon by
silverlining_99 (McCoy/Chapel, NC-17, 10,700 words)
Summary: Second chances. Sequel to
If You're Payin' For Fun (A French Quarter's All You Need).
Notes: I don't think you necessarily need to read the first fic to appreciate this one (though you really should!). This one involves McCoy and Chapel meeting on the Enterprise seven years after a chance encounter between them in New Orleans. I love how they get to know each other again, and delicately dance around the question of just how much that encounter did or didn't mean to them all those years ago.
A Highly Logical Cultural Practice by
anodyna (Spock/Uhura, R)
Summary: On the night of Spock and Nyota's engagement, Nyota learns something new about Vulcans.
Notes: Very beautiful and intimate, but also incredibly hot. This is just a perfect little portrait of the relationship.
