Hello, Internet! I'm Deputychairman, your crack_van driver for the month, and slightly overexcited to have been handed the keys to such an illustrious vehicle without a very stern driving test - brace yourselves for drink-driving, damage to the paintwork and too much capslock. I mainly flail hang out on Tumblr where such behaviour is tolerated if not encouraged, so if I breach any LJ etiquette, someone should totally tell me. I've been in love with Fraser since 1995 (yes I AM that old) and those of you who know me from Tumblr know what to expect. To everybody else, I apologise in advance.

Why this must be read: Because it's the most perfect due South story ever written? The Brokeback Mountain of fanfic? That aching blend of angst and hope and not-talking-about-it and hotness. Every time I read it I wish it had a happy ending and at the same time I don't, because every word is right and it would be a different story if the ending was different.
The first time had been up in Canada, out on their adventure. It hadn't felt real then, even when it was happening. It was more like a story than anything else, the two of them up there in the pitch black of the night, with just the ice and the noises of the dogs outside the tent and the dead silence everywhere else. It wasn't the real world.
Even in the morning it didn't feel real. Ray had figured it was maybe just another one of the ways everything was crazy up north.
Except that theory didn't explain anything about what was going on *now*.
