I really liked seeing the change in Blair in this small piece from the free-spirited student we knew at series beginning. We can literally feel the weight of his decision to become a cop and protect his Sentinel. He exhibits a focus and maturity that was lacking earlier in the canon. Through the device of learning to clean his new gun and the contemplation on its use in defense of Jim, the audience really gets a grasp on how Blair has grown as an individual and a partner. That's a lot to accomplish in such a short piece and shows the writing chops of esteefee.
