Sneaking one more rec in before I have to turn in the keys before heading over to one of the small fandom vans for next month. Why this must be read: sheafrotherdon's marvelous Farm in Iowa universe has been rightly rec'ced here before and it has inspired a lot of terrific stories, podfic and artwork. This one is my absolute favorite but it doesn't require any knowledge of the Iowa 'verse to be enjoyed. The story opens on our Atlantis not long after a Quantum Mirror has been discovered. This one doesn't allow travel between universes, but it does fix on the person holding the controller allowing them to follow their counterpart. John finds himself annoyed at Rodney who finds his alternate self's life fascinating and because John is never one to actually talk about his feelings it all comes boiling to a head.
I love AU stories, especially those that take us along on a journey of self-discovery and self-realization. This story has it all - warmth, heart, humor, longing and love. It's guaranteed to leave you with a smile on your face.
