There have been a number of suspicious fires in Cascade, apparently arson, but there is no apparent link between them. At one fire Jim meets Blair, who happens to mention that all of these fires are occurring in his district during his shifts.
Although for a good part of this story Jim has an OC lover (and doesn't stray), his relationship with Blair, once they meet, quickly gains in importance for both of them. The story also involves a little mysticism, something else I like. Altogether a very satisfying read.
James Walkswithwind is an excellent writer who has written in many, many fandoms, and is well worth reading in any of them.
