Great overview! This is my favorite show, but I'm not in the fandom. Who tends to get slashed, if anyone? I just can't see Gibbs with any of the other male characters. O.o
There are a bunch of different slash pairings for the show. Gibbs/Tony is the main one (one of my favorites *g*) and is, imo, kind of the OTP of the fandom, but i"m biased. There's also Tony/McGee, which is a smaller pairing but still has its fans; Gibbs/Ducky (I've never seen it but there are those out there who do). I've read Ducky/Gerald, and I'm sure there's Ducky/Jimmy out there somewhere but I've never come across it. And you'd think there'd be some kind of Gibbs/McGee slash, but I don't think I've ever seen that pairing in fic.
I bet the slashers had fun with that scene from a recent ep where Tony was injured on the basketball court and Gibbs was helping him walk, supporting him...
I personally slash Gibbs/Ducky as to me it's the only pairing that I can see. It just leaps off the screen and waves and shouts at you. It's just so right and so there. But we're a small pairing fandom, although at nearly 100 stories, I guess that we're not that small.
But Gibbs/DiNozzo (don't see it myself, but, hey, everyone is different) has the biggest fan base.
But basically think of a character and that person has been slashed or hetted with another character.
If Gibbs was involved with everyone with whom he's been paired, the poor man would get even less sleep than we know he does, and he'd never get to work or work on his boat :-)
Actually, for the show purposes Ducky's meant to be in his early 60s, making him 12 years older than Gibbs.
But anyway, what has age to do with love? Sadly, I suspect that this is the reason why a lot of folk can't get their heads about this pairing. Slash for so many (I'm not including you in this, BTW) has to equal young and hot. But slash for me is about connecting, plus one person's 'hot' is another's 'cold'. (DiNozzo does nothing for me. Well he does, I want to do what Gibbs does and slap him around the head *g*). But I have always gone for older men, so this pair is just so right in so many ways. I'm kind of obsessed by them. Am over halfway through my 100 fics about them and am already looking around for what I can do next. Oh, and I've done a ship_manifesto essay on them. And...

I've written a 'Ship Manifesto of my own for Gibbs/Tony, although I never posted it to the community of that name. I wrote mine to go in a pimping package that I took to BASCon with me. You can find it here, if you're interested.
At the end it says to check the next page for links, etc. Those were in a different file for the pimping package. But if you decide to give the boys a shot, you're more than welcome to comment and ask me for recs, links, and such.
