No Words

--

He liked to run.

Running made him forget his worries, and to only concentrate on breathing correctly and the soft sound of his sneakers hitting the pavement, in a predictable and comfortable rhythm;it blocked all thoughts, all emotions, and it left him alone. All he knew was that his breaths were coming out hard, the air was humid and thick like gluey pink frosting on cakes, muscles were screaming and tense, his legs felt like they were going to give out, and he wanted- needed-- to finish out what he started.

Sweat dripped down his face and he quickly brushed it out of his eyes, knowing that it his goal was near-it was close-only a minute more of running…

His stamina increased, and he felt a rush of speed when he finally finished his morning 15 km run. He didn't bother looking at his watch-he already knew that he had beaten his personal best, and time didn't matter to him. It was whether or not this would improve his stamina in the courts.

He grimaced, knowing that sweat covered him completely, and he had a feeling none of his team members would want to be within ten feet of him for practice. His trademark bandanna was also soaked, so there wasn't much of a point trying to wipe the perspiration running down his face.

"Kaidou."

He looked up, surprised to see him up and dressed in his Seigaku Tennis jacket. His expression was unreadable, but then again, it had always been hard to tell his expression when it was hidden behind thick glasses.

"Senpai?" he managed to croak out, his voice sounding more hoarse than usual. His breathing was still labored.

He was wordless, and simply tossed his teammate a water bottle, and seemed to magically pull a towel out of nowhere and wiped the sweat from his forehead. Finally, he simply waited for his teammate to finish emptying the contents of the water bottle.

"Doumo."

He didn't respond, only nodded, understandingly. Words weren't needed, as they rarely were between the two. Both were silent as they made their way towards Inui's house so Kaidou could shower before practice.
