There's so much depth here: the relationships are painful and complicated and somehow realistic in a way that is very, very satisfying. It's clever, but also heartfelt and moving. A brilliant story even if you have no idea who any of the main characters are: it's a rare thing, the stand-alone J2 AU.

Bookstore AU set in Chicago, with Jared as a sculptor who works out of a garage, and Jensen as a bookstore clerk who's trying to get over a tragedy.
This is atmospheric and heartrending, and will completely carry you away into the world of the story. I particularly like this story for the characterisation of Jensen, still recognisable but marked by his past in a way that only Jared in the end can finally start to heal. Just lovely.

No way had Bobby pulled out some pair of real mystical amulets from nowhere and handed them over like crackerjack prizes.
This story is both hilarious and smoking-hot. SIZZLING hot. But even better, there's a really beautiful story development from the beginning right through to the perfect conclusion. I like Dean and Sam here: they're in-character and somehow really endearing, and their plight, such as it is, is nicely realised and so readable. This is a story I come back to when I'm tired of life. It's feel-good and smart and just ultimately cheering.
