So I think this puts me past the 4 mark for entries. Finally I´m at an internet cafe that works decently. the one yesterday was a kiosk and it had flat keys that didn´t work much and we had to run somewhere...can´t remember where...oh probably back to the room and then off to get something to eat.
So I don´t know where to start. I plan on going through the written journal i´ve been keeping and putting those in later. Probably when i get back...but that never really happened last time did it? So i´ll just start from today and work backwards. Today has been pretty easy going (a rarity) We basically just went to the beach for 3 hours and then went to have ¨lunch¨which is really their dinner...it´s kind of confusing. we´ve been doing the best we can with ordering food. it seems that we´re best at ordering dessert...we know what´s important. i´ve been having so much chocolate mousse wherever we go...i think that will be the main reason i won´t see the benefits of all the walking we´ve been doing.
We went to Bilbao yesterday to the (excuse my spelling) Guggenheim museum. it´s a pretty amazing place. the architecture is awesome. i don´t think there is a straight original surface other than the floors. it sounds like they build walls to show specific exhibits. they were preparing for a new exhibit so the 3rd floor was closed, but at least that lowered the price of admission.
So the place we are staying has really been an interesting experience. We are staying at this woman´s ¨house¨ really an apartment. She doesn´t speak English at all, but a friend of hers who speaks a little english was there. the bathroom is huge but no curtain at all so the water goes everywhere...then what do we do? one time she mopped it up right away, but not sure about the others...so since we were going to the beach anyhow today, i took tommy´s advice and did as the french. so we have a cute room, but there is a window pain missing from one window so we get all the wonderful sounds from outside...traffic...people partying...oh and then we also get the smell from a couple fish markets to wake us up first thing in the morning. Just isn´t the same as the smell of coffee to wake you up (not that that is my first choice either, but it does beat out fish) Maybe that could be a cage match? coffee vs. fish? So now it seems there are quite a few people staying there and they all decided to ring the door bell between 11Ñ30 and 1 am at least 10 times....i thought they were all supposed to have keys...don´t know what is up with that.
So now i have a new appreciation for the shower that we had in Amsterdam...man...gotta love those shower curtains. Anyhow...San Sebastian has been beautiful. We leave on a night train Sunday to go to Barcelona and then on to Girona which is our final destination. We will be meeting up with Marta and Alison and Christopher and Mr. & Mrs. Ellig! I heard Alison and Christopher weren´t feeling well so i hope they feel better by the time they get here.
So over all things have been going well. I am getting a little tired and a little homesick...i think that will change when we meet up in Girona. It can get stressful trying to communicate in other languages you don´t know. And i had just gotten my main French words down and now on to Spanish, which doesn´t seem to be coming as well to me....Donde est mias pantelones? (don´t think i came close to getting that one right) They all look at me weird in the restaurants when i ask them this...don´t know why. Anyhow...think it is time to get going. We are going to do a little bit of hiking tomorrow up to a monument. I feel bac because Christine walks so much faster than me. I´m so behind her...i´m so slow. Oh well. Hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend...i think that is going on right now.
Looks like some new people have posted...if you can sign your name at the end. I´m pretty sure i know who you are though.
Miss you all! (Oh, and there seem to be dogs everywhere. People take them with them everywhere. Not used to that so much....makes me miss my puppies)
