Master Post

We went to see a lawyer we've had dealings with before today.  Usually when he calls us up on Sunday he asks us to come over in the late morning.  This time he wants to see us first at 6, then at 6:30.

When we reach his office, there's a campaign sign in the front yard for the County Attorney who won't return our calls.

We tell him about ( Read more... )

personal, harassment

They knew to cut your internet access earlier -- somewhat basic these days, so not that surprising. They knew to wipe your answering machine?!? Did you post about that anywhere but here on your LJ?

....holy crap.

As I've advised elsewhere, see about contacting a lawyer OUTSIDE your area. One less likely to be connected to these people and more willing to pursue things.

Contact the ACLU.

Seconded, on all counts. Sounds like the local law enforcement is waaaay too incestuous to be trusted.

Hiya, followed copperbadge's link:

"He says the answering machine tape isn't the sort of evidence that will stand up in court."

I can say that this is bullshit. I worked for a local newspaper here in Texas. One of the local deputies was fired for corruption in regards to getting his sister-in-law/girlfriend off a drug charge because of an answering machine tape. We had the FBI and state police camped out for two months on that case just because of a answering machine tape.

As someone mentioned before, it might be a good idea to find a lawyer from a couple of counties away. They'll have no relationships built within your county so no reason to try and "keep the peace," so to speak.

6:30 in the morning, or in the afternoon?

Get another lawyer get another lawyer get another lawyer, one from out of state. And call the bloody FBI. These people all deserve to spend a long, long time in jail.

Originally I came because of becky_h. Now I'm still here because I hope like hell these people are caught for what they're doing to you.

I find it awfully suspicious that the day you mention to the lawyer the tape recording is the same day that it's destroyed.
