Two speculations about Martha in Torchwood

So Martha will be in Torchwood for three episodes starting in three weeks.  I wonder if she is doing an internship in Xenobiology and Field Medicine with Dr. Owen Harper?  I also wonder if she does her internship/temps at Torchwood while Gwen is on her honeymoon?

I thought Jack and Martha were great together, and didn't get nearly enough screen time in DW, so I'm all for this. Not sure what happened to the "no cross-overs so kids aren't tempted to watch TW" rule, but hey! Do see that Martha and Gwen, as characters, would be jockeying for the same space, all curiosity and empathy and hitting on Jack.

The problem with this is that the BBC never signs multi-year contracts. Even JB and DT are only on one-year contracts.

The problem with that article is that the BBC said Martha was doing 3 episodes of Torchwood and returning mid-series for Doctor Who. Not at the end, as this article implies.

Also, the only contract Freema had was to appear in series three of Doctor Who. Everyone involved in the show is on a per series contract.

Therefore the whole S2 TW and S4 DW are from a *new* contract.

Even RTD only has an annual contract.

It *does* have open ended contracts, but only for soaps (those seem to have a "terminate with howevermany weeks/days/minutes depends on the scandal" clause in them instead)
