PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Okay, this is going to be incredibly vague, but I'll do my best.
I have checked out this one book on two occasions from the Novato Public Library. However, on both of these occasions, I had happened to see the book. Whenever I look for it, it is no where to be found. In fact, whenever I mention the book, nobody seems to know what I am talking about. It is paperback, for one. That might be part of the problem. Both times I found the book, it was in the teen section. I do remember it was a 'special edition' because it was actually a trilogy, but all the books were mushed into one fat book. I do not remember the names of the books. And of course, I cannot remember the name of the trilogy. Nor do I remember the author, although I am about 85% sure that the last name begins with a "Z".
Now that you don't know what I don't know, please help me find this book! Or these books. There are 5 main characters (2 girls, 3 guys). They have psychic powers. They get chosen from around the country to go to a special school in (southern?) California. This school is so that the kids (teenagers, actually) may develop their powers. In reality, the rich guy who is hosting this school just wants to take advantage of their powers so that he can some day rule the earth (more or less). The kids figure this out; they escape. The main girl in this group is an artist. She sort of dazes off, doodling, and then her picture is actually a premonition of sorts and she ends up seeing that image. First one the reader experiences is eyes in a spiderweb. What it actually is, is a girl's face in a car accident (pressed up against the cracked glass). Second one is all grey, with a goat in the middle, but the goat has red eyes. When we see this one, it's in the fog (grey), and the goat with red eyes is an apparition that's more psycho mumbo jumbo to make the kids crash the car. When the kids escape, they travel up the coast, at least through Oregon, maybe into Canada? They go to an island and the island is important, but I can't remember why at the moment. At some point (I think maybe in the second book? to me it's all one book because ... that's what it was) all five become telepathically linked. They can read each other's minds as long as the distance isn't too great. The reason that they stay mentally linked is because 5 is a stable number, and it balances the power. Another important thing in this story is crystal. Crystal placed to the third eye enhances power. And actually, the bad guy is looking for a special crystal the entire time... crystal is very important.
I realize none of this makes any sense. But please, if anybody has any idea what I'm talking about, let me know. Send this far and wide until it comes across somebody who knows what I'm talking about. And then hopefully, it will get sent back. This is really important to me. I appreciate anyone who can help me in my search.
