** Don't buy from Gateway, EVER!! **
I am making the post public access, so please tell all of your friends to come read this, and tell them to never do business with Gateway computers.
As I posted earlier in my journal, on August 1st, 2003 I ordered a 400SP Plus laptop computer from Gateway Computers via the web at www.gateway.com After purchasing that order I received a prompt email, which I will attach below, omitting only the order number, and Credit Card info.

**What happens next?**

- An Eight Digit Gateway Order Number - you will need to use this number for order status inquiries.

On August 5th I send an email to customer service inquiring about my order, and why I had not received my order number, tracking number, etc. and was, for all intents and purpose, sent an email saying 'screw you.' But who's actual text was saying that the only person on the face of the earth who would be able to assist me was one TyJuan Walker, Gateway customer support Rep. This person, is in my opinion a mythical figure akin to a dragon or a unicorn. You always hear about him, but you never see or talk to him. I contact him both by email and telephone and never received a response, so today at 6pm, August 7th, 2003; I contacted customer support Via telephone, and after getting much back talk and running around, was told this: Gateway has discontinued that model of the 400SP due to running out of the chassis for it (this chassis was a 15" screen as shown above. They replaced it with a chassis which has only a 14" screen, and they no longer offer the $200 off back-to-school special which dropped the price from $999 to $799 (I paid an extra $20 for an extended life Lithium Ion battery.) So you are getting LESS computer for $200 more. Also, I was *supposed* to be contacted and told that it was discontinued, buts one TyJuan Walker is apparently lost in limbo, and he is the only one who handles ALL of gateways online sales (from the way it was told to me, may or may not be true..) I was never informed, and likely would be waiting until hell froze over if I hadn't bothered to be persistent and call.
Gateway also charged my credit card anyway, so as a result I am having my bank deny charges, and pursue criminal charges of Fraud against Gateway Computers Corporation.
End of story, and this being said: I urge you, all of you, to steer well clear or Gateway computers. Save yourself the headache and wallet-ache of terrible customer service, unlawful charges, and abysmal service!
