3 distro's and 12 hours later ...

and i still cant find any linux/unix distro that supports my video card correctly, even with the Nvidia drivers SPECIFICLY for the distro im using, the GeForce 4 ti4600 is just to new for them all.

was having a discussion with some friends, learned some disturbing things, like what scvhost does on its run level, yay sniffer pro.

I really do want to make the move from MS, to a unix based open source OS, two things are holding me back.

1) configuring them correctly for my hardware. I dont seem to have any problem installing and configuing programs, or even updating through the ports, or just updating through the admin menu of whatever distro im trying, but for the life of me i cannot get X working

2) Direct3D, there is a proggie called WineX, that claims ( as do some of its users ) that it can sucessully configure direct3d to run on linux, i wouldnt know though, because of the first problem.

oh well, guess i'll have to deal with my current set up, forever dual booting off floppies trying to get it work right.

off to pay fines in dekalb co this morning, wish me luck, if i have enough, i might be drivingt again by tues.
