The Sweep

Oct 27, 2005 07:12

After getting all the way there for the first time in the club's history, the 'Stros got swept by the White Sox. A got all butch and watched the games the last two nights. I was content to wake up and hear what NPR had to say. I think the hometeam put in a decent showing. None of the games was a blowout by any means.

I went to my last class of the spiritual foundations course last night. I sat across from R which was, ummm, distracting. Explored my feelings about that a bit on the phone with A last night. This week, I didn't get *any* of the reading done. I can now relax and do the reading at a bit more leisurely pace. Topic of tonight's class was: developing your own rule for life drawing from the disciplines and practices we'd covered over the past 7 weeks.

There's an advanced course offered starting in January called "building on the foundations" which is more practice oriented. Depending on my job, I might go for that as I tend to be more disciplined when I have structure and accountability.

Autumn has arrived here which is a blessing. I love sitting out on the patio, watching the waxing moon and enjoying the mums, coleus, jasmine and bougainvillea. It's a pleasant way to spend quiet moments without the a/c units roaring in chorus. I got home last night and though the house felt stuffy, I noted that the inside temp was 72F thought the thermostat was set to 80F.

I have a sense of pregnancy, of things waiting to be birthed. I'm uneasy about the state of my relationships with my oldest and his wife and the rest of my family. It will be good, I think, to spend Thanksgiving with family in South Dakota. I've not made firm plans yet re: Christmas. I'm not going to have the money in the savings account to take the kids somewhere like I've done the last couple of years so we'll probably spend a week doing things here. I'm going to save up for skiing next winter, instead. I was hoping to take them scuba diving to Cozumel or Grand Cayman -- perhaps next year.
