I almost forgot. There's lots of new and exciting stuff going on at Evening Star Designs, but my two *favorite* things from the newsletter were the announcement that Carolyn's first CD book is ready! This one is for newbies and anyone else who is having trouble piecing blocks they like. Carolyn has 52 block patterns on the CD - 52! They are not flip and sew, either. You sew on the top!
Evening Star Designs Blocks With Variations. I ordered one immediately, even though they aren't ready until Monday! I'm suspecting that even those who've been piecing their own blocks since the days of the dinosaurs will find something different and inspirational here.
There are lots of other wonderful new options at Evening Star. I'll let you find them, but here's a hint - look in Fancy Fabrics, Lace, Goodie Bags, and all the way at the bottom of the sidebar, what does that say?
I really thought I needed these for my Moms quilt, too. So light and beautiful. Or maybe the really light topaz would be better. I'll probably get both! I received some wonderful antique laces yesterday from Australia that will be terrific on those blocks, too.
The other most exciting thing was Carolyn's announcement that she has in stock Carole Samples'
Stitch Guides! I've been waiting and waiting for this day. I had a couple of them on the annoying Bullion Knot and Colonial Knot, as well as the Paisleys, but now I've ordered more, and next month I'll finish the series. Every one I've seen is so helpful - how to and inspiration for using the stitch - yeah, even the Bullion Knot and Roses. They are laminated cardstock and just wipe off if you spill anything (like blood) on them. I love mine and look forward to the next ones unraveling the mystery of couching effectively - where do you do it, and what's the best way - and the ever-elusive (to me) fishbone leaf.
So there you have it. I'm not a part owner, or even a shareholder, just an enthusiastic customer. When I have a chance to play with the CD, I'll give you my review! Meanwhile, I think I'll go play with some Oliver's Twist or something. =)
