In a bit of change we can believe in, the Obama Justice Department has decided that prisoners
at the Bagram prison have no Constitutional rights. Well, so much for those executive orders, huh? Who knew that they were just giant PR stunts - now everyone should know.
The Obama administration has also blocked attempts to stop spraying for the light brown apple moth. About a year ago, they started to spray to kill them even though no crops here in California have ever been damaged by the LBAM even after decades of the little fella being here. The fact that no crops have been damaged hasn't stopped the California government (the whole thing is a lobbyist scam to get at California funds safeboxed in case of ecological infestation akin to the troubles with the Mediterranean fruit fly we had a couple decades back). Because a fair number of people in California object to having lord knows what chemicals sprayed into their air, water and land they've tried to get the exact composition of the sprays. That's also been thrown out
by the Obama administration. As is usual in this kind of thing, the huge chemical company's "rights" to hide its secret formula was construed as more important than the public's knowledge of what's being pumped into their bodies. But I'm sure they did it in a much more eco-friendly way than the Bush administration.
