sometimes, we need a huge reminder

I prefer to stay away from conversaions involving politics, religion, and kids. Each one of those subject matters are very personal and opinions get very strong. I, generally, apply the live and let live theory to my life.
I am bothered that there are people in the senate who are willing to be quoted while lying. To say that Mathew Shepard died over a simple robbery is not acceptable in my book. Rep. Virginia Foxx (republican N.C.) "The bill was named after a very unfortunate incident that happened, where a young man was killed, but we know that that young man was killed in the commitment of robbery. It wasn't because he was gay. The bill was named for him, the hate crimes bill was named for him, but it's, it's really a hoax, that that continues to be used as an excuse for passing these bills."
That makes my blood boil. I wonder, where is the media to stand up and report the bile this woman spews? I do not want to believe that even John Q. public thinks what happened to Mathew was a standard robbery. (I'm not counting extremist groups)
Then, I start thinking of my own life and how often I am silent when it comes to the behavior of those around me. Silence equals acceptance. I need to stop letting people live in their protective bubble and be more SuperNanny to show them how their behavior is wrong (or at the very least, childish).
