Well, more interesting church billboards this weekend. This one was in Roch. Hills and was a small church. Its billboard read:
"Bound and opressed Jesus will set you free"
...um is that wrong that sounds sort of s&m to me?

Movie Review!!

De battre mon coeur s'est arrêté (2005) ("The Beat That My Heart Skipped")
Rating: *****

A very well done french film. Apparently some people think the actor looks somewhat like me. Hmm. Well anyways, this is a brilliant story of a slum land lord/petty gangster in Paris who dreams of following in his mother's footsteps of being a concert pianist. Actor Romain Duris delivers a really incredible portrait of a man who is obviously made for something more than the life he is cast into and is tortured by it. He greets the colleagues and enemies in his squallid daily life with confidence and a mixture of aloofness and joy. He gets sadistic pleasure out of his life, yet somehow he doesn't seem cut out for it. Soon after a chance encounter his emotions are crystalized into an effort to become a concert pianist and produce true art. Every waking moment outside his old life, he is rehearsing for his audition. Thus the duality of his character one part artist one part thug is created. I won't give away more of the plot, just know the emotional pacing is amazing and it is leagues above most so called "great" gangster/mob films. It actually challenges the watcher to explore the heights and depths of humanity. Also, it has a great soundtrack a mixture of Euro electro and classical compositions on piano. Among the contributing artists are Sporto Kantes, Telepopmusic, Bloc Party, The Kills, and Electrocute.

Tessa didn't like this movie as much as I did. I really thought the ending was strong and atypical, though I won't give it away. Watch watch watch!

Well that is all.

Sincerely Me.
