I can sympathize on figuring out holidays. But I think that's part of growing up and starting things on your own. The one-family-Thanksgiving-other-family-Christmas makes a lot of sense, but I'm sure you'll figure something out next year. And, for what it's worth, being within one hour doesn't help much either. I think I saw David with his family for maybe an hour over the entire course of the week we were in California!
