AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION TIME!

I think it's time for a throwback... let's have a listening party.

Back in the day, people would run back from record stores and listen to their vinyls repeatedly, often in total silence, marvelling at the music there.  Today, with the proliferation of the industry and the new electronic model, music has become such an individual thing.

Well, I'm bringing sexy back.  Or at least bringing back the idea of REALLY listening to music.

After some iTunes glitchery, I have now secured the full 5-part recording of Johan Johannson's "IBM 1401 - A User's Guide"... It's insanely ambient and quite a gorgeous work.  Like I said previously, it's like a warm, fuzzy, mashed up Adagio for Strings, but keeps a nice chilly quality to it as well.  I would love to throw a listening party to share this great work (it's a long composition, so it'd be the feature piece of a evening of hanging out, food, etc.)

The question for everyone who reads this blog is:  Regardless of if I can actually get a listening party together, and regardless of current geographical location limitations (hey Science, invent the damn teleporter already!):

Would you attend a listening party?

(Regardless of the music at hand.  I'm just curious if the listening party could be brought back into style. Beverage pong is getting to be overrated.)

So, COMMENT!
