So, my grandmother is getting super-duper chemo again, my uncle had a heart attack monday, my sister went to the ER for gallstones monday as well, and I think I have some sort of flesh eating disease in the corner of my mouth because the skin is getting really rough and worn away all of a sudden in my left cheek.

Okay, okay, so the first three are serious things and were in shocking close proximity.  Not to mention a string of deaths and a friend's mom is in and out of the hospital in the past week as well... it's just not a great time for living it seems.

I have read 80 pages of Don Delillo's Underworld (essentially the prologue and part of the first chapter), and i can't get myself to read the other 738 pages for some reason... I want to read it, but it's like climing Everest.

The Seniors are going to be in town this weekend!  Work sucks!  The park in front of my house is getting dedicated tomorrow night!  I had "eh" pizza for dinner!

Oh, and if anyone was interested (or not) in seeing Evan Almighty, here's the skinny (I went to an advance screening tuesday night) in a few words.

-John Goodman.
-Some light satire of the Christian right and environmentalists
-Some hit-Carrell-in-the-balls jokes.
-Some poo jokes.
-Morgan Freeman is great as God again.
-Can Wanda Sykes be any more of a bad caricature?
-Lauren Graham is guh-uh-uh-uh-uorgeous!
-Daily Show crew is cameo-tastic
-Short: 90ish minute runtime is not too long or too short, yet I wouldn't have minded an extra 10 minutes of jokes or angst or any combination of those.
-Special effects won't win awards but they're not bad.
-Doesn't have that originality that Bruce had, but how could it?
-Biblical sight gags? Fun stuff.

Overall, it was an average movie that was funny and pretty much satisfied me.  High points were the Daily Show cameos, the political satire, Goodman, Carrell, Freeman, Lauren Graham and the sight gags, with the low points being Wanda Sykes, runtime and a slightly poo-and-testicles-joke-heavy balance of humor.  Nothing groundbreaking or life-changing but fun nonetheless.  Carrell fans should definitely partake.

I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars.
