Helloooooooooo, my friends! (Those of you who know my Aunt Phoebe can insert her voice instead of mine in that greeting...or what you think my best impression of my Aunt Phoebe would be...). Yes, I am currently residing in the beautiful city of London, England! I am staying in an apart/hotel right in the middle of everything downtown, which is wonderful, since it means almost everything reeeeaaaally cool is withing walking distance! I have an early morning tomorrow, so I'll leave it at that tonight, but I also want to talk about the first part of my trip! And that's gonna take some time.....
We (as in, the SCC!) arrived at the airport at 4am and were all varying states of excited and tired. The first plane ride was a pretty short trip to Toronto. I sat by 11 year old Dale, an outgoing girl who is the youngest chorister to come with us this tour (neat, since my friend Erica and I are the oldest, at age 18, and also neat because I was Dale's age on my first big SCC trip, which was also to Europe, though that time it was to France and Spain, and also neat since I later realized I've been in choir for as long as Dale's been alive, and wow this is a run on sentence), who had never been on a plane before. We kept our window open for take-off so she could watch, then closed it because the sun was blinding us. About halfway through, though, I opened it again so I could show her what it looks like to be above clouds. She got very excited and it was really cool. Anyways, we arrived in Toronto safely and had quite a bit of time before our next flight, so we got to wander around (with buddies - we have a buddy system, my dears, in order to keep us safe) the Toronto airport to find lunch and just explore. There was a large very cool dome thing near our gate that had tons of reverb inside, and Aunt Phoebe thought it would sound cool to sing in there. Everyone who agreed (which I think was pretty much everyone in the choir) went to the dome with her, and we sang a shortened version of Canadian choral composer Stephen Hatfield's 'La Lluvia' and Holst's 'Ave Maria'. It was incredibly nifty. Then came the looong overnight plane to Dusseldorf. Not much to say there. We didn't sleep much.....Oh! But I was reading GetBackers on the plane to Toronto and this one, and MAN is that a good series!!! Seriously, it's just crazy! I was on about volume 20 at that time, I think. I tried to write some, and watched '17 Again', listened to music, tried to sleep....that was it...
From Dusseldorf we took a short flight to Vienna, Austria, where we met our courier, Gabi. She a lovely, very organized and knowledgable German woman and she took very good care of us. We, the group of tired jet-legged choristers, went for lunch and then saw St. Steven's cathedral, which is BEAUTIFUL. We then were set free to shop, though no one felt very enthusiastic since we were exhausted. We needed to stay awake to beat the jet leg, though, so we did a lot of window shopping. A couple of us went and saw the apartment Mozart live in at one time, so that was cool. We met back at the cathedral and walked back to the bus to be driven to where we would be staying (a dorm room). The rooms were quite nice, though very warm. I was in a room with Catherine and my friends Heather and Eline (who, by the way, are HILARIOUS). We were all exhausted, so we ate supper at 6pm, were back at our rooms by 7pm, and I was asleep by quarter to eight. I slept extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemely well that night.
That's all for now, I need to skip off to bed! I will describe more of my European adventures as I have time. No quote today - I'll get you some from Europe in the future!
Edit: I forgot to mention that, for all you halves of dozens of people who have been reading my story 'Lullaby' on fictionpress, Chapter 9, aka
See You Later (Part IV), aka the final 'See You Later' part is up. I posted it last night because I had it written but didn't have internet access until then. It's the last chapter of volume 1 - I'm done a volume! And it's over 100 pages - how exciting is that?!!! I'm excited anyways...I won't make the volumes seperate stories, just in case there was any confusion about that. I don't think there was though....oh well, better safe than sorry!
OK, I'm seriously going to bed now...
