The Return

GUESS WHAT.  NO, I WANT YOU TO GUESS.  NOW. GUESS!!  Okay, fine, I'll tell you.  Ehren got livejournal!!!!!!!!! YAAAAAY!!!

In other exciting recent news, I went and saw 'Inglorious Basterds' last night and.....IT WAS AWESOME.  It was so ridiculous, but in the best way possible.  I have a new love for Brad Pitt that I never ever had before.

So, the night before leaving for the lake, I was rewatching Merlin and FREAKING OUT at the overload of bromance involved.  Seriously, I had a little spaz attack.  Anyways, it got Cat and I talking about our favourite bromance moments in everything ever and had a relapse attack of LOVE for GINJI AND BAN!!!!!  They are sooooo cuuuuuuuuuuuute.....Also, we squeed a little over Kira and Athrun, as well as Daisuke and Satoshi.  And, of course, Merlin and Arthur.

Anyways, Friday afternoon I had a picnic with Nolan.  He'd made a yummy yummy lunch.  Seriously, that boy can cook!  Anyways, we went to our normal spot by the riverbank and it was super nice.  I'm very lucky.

I went to the lake!  Whoot!  It was tons of fun, I got back late Sunday morning.  Yup, we partied it up.  Sort of.

We got there Friday evening with my dad's useful driving instructions he made us and found our first task was to get the spare key from its hiding place in.......the outhouse.  0.o  It was so gross, not because it was a stinky outhouse (it was fine in terms of smell, since no one ever uses it anymore) but because it was covered in cob webs and there was a wasp's nest above the door.  It was dark and hard to see, and the key was covered and gross and.....bleh.  But the key was successfully obtained.  Yay!  Then we spent some time searching for the lever to turn on the water, which we successfully found and successfully turned on.  Once in the cabin, we put away our stuff and then turned on the hot water.  Thank you to my dad's awesomely detailed instructions.

We had supper (perogies covered in taco meat and cheese, made by Ehren) which was insanely dilicious, and then went to the store.  Ehren had brought alchohol and she and Sarah were conspiring to get me drunk for the first time ever!  We wanted to rent a crappy movie to watch and make fun of while drunk, but there were only videos.  They used to carry DVDs, and even had an okay collection.  What happened?!

We dealt with this disapointment by sitting on a dock and watching the sun set near the store.  It was very pretty.  Except, the water was super gross and green.  But the sunset out-pretied it.

Back to the cabin!  Ehren and Sarah fed me alchohol and got me drunk for the first time.  It was a very strange but very fun experience.  I was completely bamboozled by how difficult it was to say things coherently.  I did a pretty good job, but it was hard work!  I wasn't even that drunk, either.  Ehren told me I was a tank, but I think that's just in comparison to her......she's, erm, a lightweight.  She and Sarah both sobered up before me, so then I was all "Oh noz!  I'm the only one drunk!  AAHH!!"  Also, I attempted to do a shot.  Not even, actually, I attempted half a shot.  Of spiced rum.  It was the last drink I had, and I did a pretty spectacular spit take with it.  While we were all still drunk, we watched some very disapointing soft-core porn game show thing.  In Italian.  Anyways, Ehren and Sarah took good care of me, making sure I drank water and asking me how I felt the next morning.  No hangover for me!!  Yay!  I wandered around tidying the cabin a bit before I went to bed (Ehren and Sarah had already gone to sleep, but I wanted to finish watching Craig Fergusen...while drunk...) and by the time I was done that and getting ready for bed, I was pretty much sober.  And that, my friends, was my first experience drunk.  Countless numbers of people are disapointed that they were not there to witness it first hand.

Anyways, the weekend mostly consisted of really nice walks, sunbathing on the deck, complaining that the weather was AMAZING and perfect for swimming but the water was too gross to swim in, hitting up the store to buy drinks and ice-cream, reading Cosmo magazines, playing old board games we found in the closet (including snakes and ladders, which was far more exciting than you might think), talking about our lives, eating ridiculously unhealthy but delicious food, and wondering why all three of us are so pale.  Saturday night, we decided to have a late supper of hot dogs that we would cook over a fire.  Only, the logs were all damp so we had trouble getting the fire started.  We used some antifreeze.  It's flamable.  Highly so.  That helped.  We made amazing hot dogs and smores (with nutella, omgsogood).  'Bend it Like Beckham' was on TV, so we watched it while cleaning up.  We washed the dishes, and then the water stopped working.  *sigh*

The next morning, we got up early, at 8:15am, and packed up and finsihed cleaning.  We were on the road by 9:10, listening to 'The Con' by my favourite band, Tegan and Sara (their latest CD - in other exciting news, they are apparently coming out with a new one soon!!! WHOOT!).  We ate s'more pop tarts on the road for breakfast.  Healthy.  Very healthy.  After we were done listening to the Con, we put on an ABBA cd, since we'd all three been involved with a Mamma Mia medley in choral class, complete with actions.  So we sang along obnoxiously, doing dance moves (even Ehren, who was drving) along with the CD.  We did a fantastic belted along version of 'Winner Takes it All'.  After that, we moved on to the first cd I ever burned Ehren.  All in all, it was a fantastic and amazing trip.  Thank you, Ehren and Sarah.

Sunday evening, I went to my Grandma's for supper with her, my mom, my dad, Cat, Aunt Phoebe, Uncle Ron, and Aunt Phoebe's mom Grandma Winn.  Grandma gave me a beautiful quilt she'd made for my room in Regina and a shocking amount of money to get me started on my new independent life, telling me to use it well (Cat, of course, saw the check and turned to me to say, "Think of all the manga that'll buy!").  I can't thank her enough.

Yesterday, high school started up again and Cat had her first day of gr. 11.  My mom and I went shopping for stuff to take to Regina and bought a teapot, two mugs, a sugar container, and one of those little plates for used tea bags.  We also found a full length mirror, but we'll wait 'til we see the room before we grab that.  Anyways, we picked up Cat on the way home, and it felt so weird to not be there.  At the same time, though, it felt completely normal.

A week from yesterday is moving day.  A week from today is my first day of classes.  Oh my.  University, here I come....?

Okay, your quote for today will be from the lake, while we were trying to make a fire.  We had very little kindling, so Sarah was, in all her mightiness, tearing apart a dead tree.  Part way through our relaxing fire, we decided we needed more kindling, and Sarah volunteered to rip apart trees again.  I had been grabbing things from inside that we needed for roasting at the time.
Mary:  "Oh no!  I forgot the roasting sticks!  Don't worry, I'll run back in and get them.  Nobody panic!"
Sarah: *looking very evil*  "The only ones that need to panic are the trees!"

I plan to make a comic out of this quote.
