Moving, Part II: The Revenge of the Army Transportation Office

Aug 08, 2005 23:10

Much done today with regards to getting my household goods moved in.  The first batch is here, safe and sound, but the remaining . . . things . . . . at my parents' house in Anaheim still need moving.  Needless to say, there's been no shortage of difficulties convincing the Fort Hood Army Transportation Office to move their lazy, stretch-pant-clad selves and call the movers to pick it up.  Besides, I'm sure my parents want my bedroom set out of their house.

D*C is looming, and there's still far too much to get done.  I'm beginning to see how sithvixen and B feel, what with their plethora (plethorae?) of costumes.  Nothing too unmanageable, thank goodness.  Herr K. (Hellboy) is mostly done, just some fine tuning left, and Johnathan Carnahan (The Mummy) will be finished once my coat comes back from the tailor.  And, of course, there's the myriad of small things to do, like relining a pith helmet and assembling my web gear for our little D-Day/WWII bit scheduled for Sunday evening.  librarymouse and I will be driving out from Texas the Wednesday before, so we'll have the added convenience of a car and freedom of movement around Atlanta - always a nice thing.  Fun times!

A somewhat good excuse for the posting delay - I was in the lovely California desert (again) at NTC (again) fighting the vile Krasnovians (again).  Of course, they've changed their names for the moment, but I have no doubt we (FORSCOM) will be officially battling the Armies of the Peoples Republic of Krasnovia (PRK) (again) in the near future.

Deep thought for the day:

If an NTC rotation is training and rehearsals for future operations, does that make it a "preenactment"?
