Happy Friday Thursday!! It's a short week for me due to being off tomorrow to take my husband back to the eye doctor to see if the new eye drops they've put him on have reduced the pressure in his eyes enough to be comfortable with.
In other news, I put the first coat of paint on the door last night and it looks, OMG, so much more awesome than I even hoped! :D The final winner was *drumroll* "Caribe" (teal/turquoise/blue-green/whatever you want to call it). I had the paint on hand (from having the same color elsewhere in the house and decided to just give it a go. It looks really beautiful with the exterior color of the house and now I can't WAIT to get the new door in.
Did I talk about the new door already? I can't remember. Either way, for a very long time now, I've admired doors with transoms and side-lights and sighed sadly over what I thought was the fact that I couldn't have one due to living in a log home. My uncle (currently My House Reno Hero!!) made me very happy when he told me that it would actually be "No big deal, just a bit of carpentry." to put in such a door. Although, I must admit, it still seems very daunting to me, the idea of cutting into my walls with what amounts to a chainsaw, basically. :P However, I will trust him as he's always come through for me in the past. :)
Anwyay, the door has the side-lights and transom over head and the style of it is just what I wanted, simple, understated, clean lines. The door itself is a 3/4 glass (I think), with the glass being completely clear and simple paned. The sidelights and transom are styled the same. Below the transom is a rather deep "shelf" that's made into the frame that I can easily see being decorated and ornamented for different seasons. :)
