Ok, I'm officially creeped out.
This may be too much information, but I'm in my bathroom right now (what?? I was doing online banking, ok? Multitasking! :P). I'm home alone except for the animals (a regular sized cat, a 45 pound dog and a very small bird). When the cat walks he makes no sound pretty much (unless he's running down the stairs and then it's like, "tut-tut-tut-tut-tut"). The dog's steps can be heard as the toenails on wood, but there's no audible "thump". The bird? She's in her cage unless she decides to let herself out, which she is totally capable of doing at any point - but she flies everywhere, so no footsteps for her.
The point...? I'm sitting in my bathroom and a few moments ago, I heard, very distinctively, footsteps outside the door. O_O I not only heard them but felt the vibration from them under my own feet on the floor as each one fell. There were about 6 steps heard, then nothing. It sounded exactly like when my husband is walking around in the house with his big, heavy work boots. Only, his boots are with him...at work.
Uh, guys...if I disappear, tell the cops that it was someone wearing boots. :P Or, you know, a very noisy, heavy stepping ghost. O_O
