My birthday, March 1, shares the date with a holiday in Iceland, Beer Day, which celebrates the 1989 abolition of a 75-year prohibition on beer in Iceland. On March 1, Icelandians (Icelandics? Icelanders?) get piss drunk on beer for no better reason than to revel in its existence on their little island.
Looks like now I'll have to celebrate my Irish on St. Patrick's Day, and pretend to be Icelandic on my birthday. There are worse fates.
