It has been a busy few days. Work has been real busy, but on Thursday afternoon I took off to do Metro Methodism. We started out touring the building I work in to learn what all the offices in the North Alabama Conference do. Of course, this part I already knew since I have been working in the Ordained Ministry Office for the past six years. We then went to Vestavia Hills Untied Methodist Church for a panel discussion with several pastors talking about their ministries. One was a very vibrant, growing contemporary style church that just started about 10 years ago. The other was from East Lake UMC which is in a transitional neighborhood, and the female pastor started a mission church called the Church Across the Street for some of the people in the neighborhood. The other was a black preacher who has a mission church downtown that ministers to drug addicts, and then we had Patrick Friday formerly a missionary to Latvia. He returned to the states last year. He was the pastor that headed up the Children from Chernoyble coming to North Alabama each year. This panel of pastors was incredibly interesting, and made me want to do something to help. We then had a caucus to discuss our day. I'm so glad that I'm doing Metro Methodism this year.

Dylan didn't come to spend the night with me on Friday night, because he was pretty sick with an ear infection, so I got to sleep a little later than usual. Last weekend when he spent Friday night with me, he came in my bedroom at 7:00 AM and told me it was daytime and its time to get up. I sure couldn't argue with that. My plan was to get a lot of housework done. I did some but not nearly as much as I needed to.

Jenny and Dylan came over on Saturday night for a little while so Jenny could show us her DVD of her Dale Jarrett Driving Adventure. Her fiance, Stuart bought her 20 laps on the Talladega track. She was the most excited that I think I have seen her. She said that there were seven men driving with her. They were all teasing her, calling her the "little lady" but she beat every one of them. I was a little nervous thinking about my daughter driving around the track at 174 mph, but she came back home safe and sound.

Sunday has been an extremely busy day. Of course we had services at both churches this morning, but Rich only preached at Friendship. Morris had an all music service of Southern Gospel music by the Watwood Family. As soon as church was over we ate lunch and headed over to St. Luke Episcopal Church in Mountain Brook for a concert for the group called Celebration Winds. I missed my Sunday nap but it was well worth it. Rich has only been in the group for a couple of months and this was his first time to perform with them. They were absolutely awesome. I was told that the director is the retired director from Samford University. That was some of the best music I have heard since we moved to Birmingham. The two musical experiences were quite a contrast but I enjoyed both of them.

Since I missed my nap today, I think I will try to get to bed early so I will be ready for my busy week at work.
