I just finished Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, by Douglas Adams, author of the (in)famous Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy.
It's an amazing book, and I highly recommend it, along with its sequel, The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul, which I happened to read before the first installment.
