Dude man, hun stop stressing. IT sounds like you've already figured out what the solution is, you just haven't told yourself. It seems to me that if your parents are willing to pay your rent whilst you attend Sac State, as long as you pay PG&E etc., look for a new job and apartment in Sac that's convenient and cozy.
I know you adore your job but it's better to leave a job on good terms and be able to return to it later if the opportunity presents itself, than to wait till you're fet up with it and never want to return to it or see those people in the market ever again. Besides if you look into getting a place over the summer you won't have to compete with all the incoming students in the fall, and you'll be all moved in and comfortable with your surroundings, and your puppy will be too.
You'll still be able to see your parents whenever you feel like making the drive, and every sunday for dinner. Your brother will be in town to stop by if you need him for anything (although i do advise getting a place on the other side of town so he doesn't drop by too unexpectedly at an inopportune time, if you catch my drift ;) )
Then there's the boy factor, ie.College boys (and new professors[I know i'm aweful]) close by to meet; and on "those" nights there won't be as far of a drive to make home at 3am.
I say look around, ask God about it, and see where it leads you. -Al
