Not a bad weekend!

I mentioned in my last entry that I was thinking about getting back into paid photography gigs, and that a former client had reached out and might make a good test run. Indeed, we met up Saturday for a couple hours, and I would say it went pretty well. I definitely felt rusty, especially in my posing (and composing) skills, but for the most part it came easily. It helped to have a friendly and somewhat familiar client, of course--and frankly a client whose expectations weren't over the top. :) I occasionally showed them some shots on camera, which I don't usually do, and they were pleased, so that was nice. I culled the set down to around 90 shots, which I'll probably further whittle down to ~60 as I edit. I think they'll be happy with the results.

It was also a chance to procure myself a Disney World annual pass, which I haven't had for a couple years! I told the wife the fee for this shoot would cover half, and the rest I'll pay for with future gigs. But I don't even have to do that--in a lovely and unexpected coincidence, I got an e-mail from Time-LIFE books. Last year they used a couple of my old Disney World shots in a book about the Disney parks, and apparently they're reprinting it this year so I get paid again. Nice! That easily covers the remainder of my pass, and could even pay for one for Amy as well, if she's interested. I've felt bad that she hasn't gone to Disney as much as her sisters always did, mainly because they (and their mother) got kinda burned out on the place and we stopped going so much. But I still love it, and I bet Amy would too, so I think I'll suggest that and see what she thinks. I'm sure Heather would be on board, since she often wishes she got more breaks from Amy, who is our.. let's say most demanding child. :)

So anyway, good weekend! Except for the lack of sleep--we got a new service dog foster puppy on Friday, and her first couple nights with us have been rough, due to digestive issues and probably the stress of a new place. I'm sure it will get better soon, though, as she settles in.

Okay, enough for now. I hope everyone's week is off to a good start!
