Okay, for anyone who cares, here's some photos from the weekend. Mostly butterflies and some critters from the zoo we visited.
Gibbon. This was a zoo with fairly small and cage-like enclosures, which does bother me to an extent. I always have trouble reconciling the entrapment of wild animals with the importance of educating people about the diversity and beauty of nature, you know?
Green-crested turaco.
Squirrel monkey. Friendly fellow, but I bet it wouldn't take much to get him flinging poo. ;)
I am ashamed to admit I didn't much pay attention to which species I was looking at in the Butterfly Rainforest. They're mainly exotics from South America and Asia, though.
This one I know is a Malachite, which actually does range to south Florida.
