It’s New Year’s Eve. Hard to believe that in a little under 16 hours, this year will be a mere memory. For me, it’s been a year of ups and downs. The one thing that has been a constant good thing is watching my daughter grow and learn and develop. On January 1st, she was barely over 5 months old, was working on cutting her very first tooth, and wasn’t even rolling back to front. Now, 365 days later, she’s running, jumping, talking, and doing everything that a typical toddler does. We’ve struggled to keep our heads above water financially, had our share of knock down, drag out fights that nearly ended our marriage, lost a baby, and had our first Christmas with no other family present. We’ve both had jobs, however short lived mine may have been, moved into a new home, found out that we’re expecting our second child, and spent time with my dad. Here’s hoping that 2013 isn’t quite the roller coaster that 2012 has been. I hope to do many things in the year to come. Have the natural birth I was robbed of with my daughter, go home to Portland, successfully make it through the first few months of parenting two children with the majority of my sanity intact, and keep my marriage alive and well. I want to read more books, maybe take some classes, lose weight (after the baby comes, of course), and better myself in general. Not just for me, but for the sake of my children. They deserve my very best, and I will strive to give them just that.
Happy New Year, everyone, may it be a safe and wonderful end to your 2012, and may your 2013 start off with a bang!
