Sam's single-mindedness is really incredible here. Somehow you do the best things with it - that last scene!! - and it's uplifting and hopeful and scary and even ruthless at the same time.

THEIR VOICES :DDD and being such kids! they are so great at bickering and teasing each other! and the best wavering between brotherly love and something closer, more clinging, more claustrophobic - gosh, I forgot about all those emotions of S3! this fic has given me cravings for it. Sam sticking close to Dean like a puppy eeee <3333 and Dean not saying yes to him, but when the lady calls them a couple he doesn't even blink, just smiles through, even though Sam who's been gets skittish.

The way they are about all this, saying yes and no, pushing and pulling, clinging and then not saying anything - it's so very very real! so this part was I think my favorite:
“Your brother?” she says.
Dean remembers then the impression he and Sam gave, the impression he purposefully reinforced, the impression that is no longer entirely false. He doesn’t blush, has a lifetime worth of training to lock down any emotion he doesn’t want to show or have, but it takes him a moment to find his voice.
“My brother,” he repeats savagely

SAVAGELY <333 so so spot-on Dean!

and it's casefic tooooo omg loooove

Sam's single-mindedness is one of my top 3 favorite things about him (and I love pretty much everything about Sam, so....) And I love it because it's all those things you mentioned; Sam is scary when he's determined like that, but there's also something tragic and beautiful. So. Yes. ANYWAY. I'm so incredibly happy that Sam's characterization worked for you here.

S3 is my favorite season, because of all those things you just listed. And I love writing the banter; it's such an important part of how they relate to and interact with each other and just plain fun to write as well.

The push and pull was hard to write, just because it's difficult to find a balance, and I wanted to make it clear that this was them wavering and not me just being sloppy with consistent characterization. XD If that makes sense.

CASEFIC EEK. I don't understand why more people don't write more casefic. I adore it as a reader, and as a writer, I think it's the single best format to work out all the emotions and angst and drama of a specific time period within the show.

*loves all over you*
