I love, love, love fic set in this time period because it's such an interesting, desperate moment in their relationship and we didn't get to explore it as much as we should have thanks to the writer's strike. You captured everything about why this period is so interesting--poor, poor, desperate Sam and Dean trying to make up for it and all the childish games they play because it's familiar and comfortable but laced with all the sadness that they know they have to make it last.
Your banter is so perfect and the Impala-is-home jokes are so fucking precious ESPECIALLY snice SAM is the one who kept making them.
OMG, just yes. And you already know about how I felt about some of these lines because I told you, but this one bears repeating:
Sam holding onto Dean with the fear of losing him and Dean clinging to Sam with the relief of keeping him.
They hadn’t done much beyond kissing, Dean pushing Sam into the wall, Sam wonderfully alive beneath his hands. It wasn’t a sex thing. Dean still looks at Sam and thinks brother before anything else, not his fault that that’s a more complicated word for him than it is for most others.
Just. Yes. You have no idea how much emotion was wrapped into just that little bit right there for me. Poor Boys.
Oh, AND. I totally called that it was a hoax \o/ THAT SCOOBY DOO DIALOGUE MADE ME LAUGH SO HARD I SCARED MY CATS.

*g* That's exactly why I love writing fic set in this time period. Because there's so much to explore that the writers didn't get a chance to. And because S3 Sam is my favorite Sam ever, with the possible exception of S5 Sam (who is, as we know, perfection, and it is hard to compete with that).
I'm really happy to hear the banter is perfect. :D The banter's so much fun to write, but it's also really important to get write, because that's how Sam and Dean communicate through either a) banter, b) soulful gazes, or c) their fists ):
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO WORK SCOOBY DOO DIALOGUE INTO A FIC FOREVER. >D YAY FOR SCARING CATS. And you called that it was a hoax before I did. I didn't even realize it till I was 3/4 done with the fic.
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
