Let's meet...
Imagine going to a dinner party
with scholars, artists,
and folks from all walks of life.
How wonderful it would be
to learn from an aged traveler
back from overseas,
a young artist showing his work
in a downtown gallery,
and a local rancher
having just fed her horses.
Imagine the vibrant atmosphere,
as we walk from room to room,
drifting from one conversation
to the next.
How wonderfully enriched
our lives would be
amongst new friends,
each talented, gifted or wise
in their own way.
The Internet offers
a gathering place,
a cyber dinner party
for us to attend...
But hopefully this
is only an appetizer
that leads to
face-to-face meetings
and friendships
that last a lifetime.
Nothing can replace
a warm hug,
direct eye contact,
and immersion
in the unique charisma of
living men and women.
Given the chance
reality can best imagination,
and allow us
to embrace our humanity...
along with each other.
