Everything seemed to be going fine, Madelyne was doing reasonably well, we'd gotten some weight back on her, and she for the most part was happy I think. That changed last night, I had brought the dogs in due to the thunderstorms earlier that day. Madelyne is terrified of thunder. I had gone down to retrieve them so that can return outside and do what doggies do best. madelyne was still laying down and being no responsive, and there was drooling. My first response was her sugars were too low, she'd done this once or twice before. Well she started to be responsive but had issues getting strength into her legs. So after about 1/2 of her trying to stand and some discussion about weither she's had a seizure, I take her to the Emergency vet. It pretty much goes down hill from there. Madelyne had 4 seizures in a 1/2 time period. That's from in the care to the Vets front door. She was still in the last one when I carried her in. They had to put her in a drug induced coma to get them to stop at that point.
Docs ran some test, asked some questions. The end result, Madelyne's sugars were high, her pancreaus was slightly inflamed, There were a few other levels including one type of white blood cell that was high. The doctors assestment, was that while high blood sugars can cause seizures there should have been keytones and other indicators to tell us that was the culprate. She did not have pancreatious. The only thing the doc could say was that it was either Cancer related, or it is a result of her age.
So last night about 9:00 I gave the one order, I really hoped I wouldn't have to.
Despite it all, she was a very good dog, She helped at two other dogs see that the humans taking care of them aren't that bad, She had a good life. She will be missed.
Now I'm going to go, before I cause my laptop to short out.
