Yep, it's me again.

Survived the last bit of hell that September had to offer me.  It seems that I'm always at my worst in September, like it's the Monday of Months.  This time, September nearly claimed Roxie.  My loving geriatric rottweiler found her way into something she shouldn't have and spent a weekend at the vet's. She had to undergo invasive surgery and we managed to rack up a bill of seventeen hundred dollars.  I can't think of a time I've ever had a hospital bill close to that amount (even before I had med insurance.)  Keep in mind I'm one of those people that views my pet as a child more than an animal to be summoned at my beck and call.  Losing Molly last year was bad enough.  I'm not sure what I would have done if Roxie passed so suddenly.

I'm also starting to wonder if I shouldn't move back to Florida.  Give me hurricanes over dealing with the morons at certain heating companies any old day of the week.  Said heating company (who is notorious for their less-than-forthcoming business practices) tried to charge us for the repair of our LEASED hot water heater (the one that was turned into a mouse nest--see previous entries) and sent me a nastigram because I wouldn't pay.  They pissed, they moaned, they threatened me with small claims court.  So when I called up their credit department for a natter, I probably sounded like Linda Blair in The Exorcist.  And after I hung up the phone with Evil Heating Company, they actually owed ME money.  Isn't that a trip?  Why not deal with a new company, you ask?  Because I'd have to get a new hot water heater installed, and with all that's going on right now, that is the last thing I need to deal with.

I know those few privileged (please note sarcasm) people who actually read my blog are wondering about Old Testament Weather.  The story is almost unrecognizable from its humble beginnings as a poorly written rough draft; with the exception of the characters, it's an entirely new story in and of itself.  I hear this happens with a lot of novels, but this is the first time I've experienced the phenomenon.
