first good sunday in a while

Yeah. So last night was horrendously boring, but today was pretty cool. We went to pick up a 240 that we had found for Ryan. It has a blown motor and the guy was selling it for only 300 bucks. Not a bad deal considering there was a bunch of shit in the trunk that he just let us have with the car. This includes a mostly complete redtop SR head, full 300zx brakes and spindles, and an SR sidemount.

I woke up at 11:30ish and called Ryan to make sure he was awake, then I got ready and left. I tried to call the guy who we met to see the car yesterday (he said to call after 12) and he didn't answer. Hm. I meet up with Ryan after getting my dad's truck then we go to U-Haul to get the car hauler. We were getting it for free because Will knew a guy who worked there and he owed Will a favor or something. Neat. I think it's worth mentioning at this point that I have never driven a vehicle with trailer attached to it, but I never let minor details like this get in the way of more important endeavors. Anyway, we head over to the guy's house and meanwhile I am still trying to call this dude and his phone is still off. We get there and I realize that I probably do not have the skills to back the trailer into the tiny ass driveway so I just pull into a church parking lot that is down the road. We went up to the car and after a minute this old guy comes out who happens to be the car owner's dad. He also happens to be a veteran truck driver, so he helps us get the trailer into place. Heh.

The car not only had 2 flat tires, but the brakes on it were seized from sitting for so long. It was very hard to get onto the car hauler but we finally managed to push it on and lock it down. We were going to take it to Sean's house but I decided to take it to mine and put it in the garage, because I didn't want to go through all the trouble of moving it 2 times. When we got it home and unloaded we started looking at it. This was clearly a northern car because it had some pretty horrendous rust. There are two large holes (about 4x2 inches) on the frame rails, and huge rips in the front fenderwells. There is also a lot of rust in one of the rocker panels and some in the engine bay. The car needs a LOT of body work but Ryan seems pretty determined to fix it, surprisingly. We'll see what happens. Right now we need to find a motor, stat.

That's all I did today. :|

Ryan, Will and part of Keith unloading the car at my house. Yay.
