I've been talking so much with my students about college that I've started to miss it a little. Not the homework or the bad "boyfriends" but the friends and the ability to go wherever at whatever time of day or night. This whole 9-5 thing sucks sometimes.
On the other hand I love the independence of being a true adult. I don't have to rely on anyone else to pay my bills, I can still do whatever I want but I have to be responsible and sometimes it is nice to be "old" and just stay in on a friday or saturday night instead of feeling like I have to go to another party.
Still, I've felt longing for being back in Scarborough with tons of friends around. What's even scarier is that Scarborough was 5 years ago. It's crazy but I can still visualize every detail of my dorm room and where everyone lived.
I'm taking students up to tour campus if all goes according to plan and there are parts of Towson I don't even recognize. It's changed and so have I. I guess I have such a warm place for it in my heart because college is really where you find yourself. You really grow up in college.
We're grown ups. Weird.
