I'm on my school improvement planning team (SIP) with a few other teachers, my principal, a parent, and the SPED director. Things are getting pretty busy with that. I'm glad that I made the decision to volunteer for this gig, because it's going to add A LOT to my references and qualifications if I ever have to apply elsewhere. Also I think its going to help me out in the long run with my procert and masters program. The SIP team is currently working on a recording method to keep our goals for the school accountable and in an easy to read format. Working with a 6th and 3rd grade teacher, I think we've finally managed to convince the rest of the group that this doesn't have to be a long, drawn out procedure. That said, I'm in charge of making up the first draft of this thing and finding the time to do it is driving me crazy- plus I have the entire district's 1st grade common assessment and alignment with state math standards to contend with. Its going to get crazy soon, kids.
Yesterday afternoon, we had a president's day assembly that last 35 minutes. My class was sitting on mats on the gym floor and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect class. Of course, the stakes were high for any misbehavior- no recess, no Valentine's exchange afterwards- but they were really amazing. I was standing against a wall and starting to get really bored and tired myself about halfway through. I hate assemblies.
This is going to be a lovely weekend. Even though I have a bunch of work to do, I know its still going to be relaxing. We're going later today to help Kevin's parents look for a new cat. They're trying a shelter in Longview today. Then we have to do our taxes.
I've been watching too much Stargate again. We've just finished season 2 of Atlantis and I'm having Stargate dreams again... I can't WAIT to get season 3!!
