Learning in Comfort

My class had a class party yesterday. They voted on a pajama and stuffed animal party. An all day event as opposed to a 15 minute snack fest at the end of the day. Smart choice. I thought it was going to be a CRAZY day. I wore my pjs. Over half the class wore their pjs and everyone brought a little stuffed animal. It was the most calm, productive day I've ever seen in a first grade classroom on a Friday. It was so amazing. We set a few ground rules right up front and everything was just so smooth and perfect. We even had a contest for best pajamas and best stuffed animal at the end of the day. Only two people could win out of the 25 kids. NOBODY cried when they lost. It was such a great day. On top of everything, a little girl, towards the end of the day, said, "Mrs. Tracey, you have a very nice laugh. I really like it." I thought that was the best compliment ever.

Now that I got used to being back in the swing of things for work, I'm finding it hard to fill up all this free time I have for the weekend. So I've decided to waste some time on the computer until Kevin gets up and then we'll go for a walk on some trails. It looks very cold out again, but maybe by lunch time it won't be so bad.
